Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Reports To: Associate Athletic Director/ Director Athletic Training Job Status: 12-month, Full-Time, Exempt,
Compensation Information: Salary range $66,000 – $72,800 (annually), commensurate with experience. This position is
eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan with school match,
higher education tuition reimbursement, and 50 % tuition remission for employee’s children attending JSerra. Afternoon and
evening hours are required.
Description: The Athletic Trainer assumes the responsibility and obligation of maintaining an athletic training program in all
high school sports programs to ensure the health and safety of all students, coaches and spectators. An athletic trainer is a
certified and licensed health care professional who practices in the field of sports medicine and prevents injury or re-injury
of student athletes by developing conditioning, flexibility, and rehabilitative programs. Daily duties include applying bracing
or administering therapeutic treatments as well as providing emergency first aid to injured or ill student athletes or staff.
Normal work hours are approximately noon to 8:30pm (with an unpaid 30-minute lunch).

Responsibilities
o Adhere to monthly calendar developed by Head Athletic Trainer
o Management and care for all injuries on JSerra’s athletic campus
o Documentation and follow-up for all injuries
o Assist all athletic eligibility packets and clearances. Ensuring no ineligible athletes participate
o Assist with baseline concussion testing
o Assist record keeping and filing systems
o Assist with oversight with an inventory of supplies
Abilities, Education & Experience
remote athletic competitions is required (estimated at 10% travel).

and reaching may also be required. Good hearing is required when communicating on the telephone or in person.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in indoor and outdoor environments; travel from site to site;
frequently works around athletic playing fields; exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, blood borne
pathogens and bodily fluids. Occasional exposure to risks controlled by safety precautions.
