Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Summary

    Part-time hourly position for a certified athletic trainer to work with BYU Extramural Sports teams. This position reports to the Extramural Sports Athletic Training Manager.

    Essential Functions

    • Must attend all practices and games.
    • Travel with the team required.
    • Hours heavier through winter semester when the teams are in season. Summer off. Fall semester hours lighter than winter.
    • Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. This will include being available to assist with athletes pre-practice needs, stay through practice to address any injury issues that arise, and perform post practice treatments and clean up.
    • Perform first aid care, evaluate injuries, and provide associated rehabilitation.
    • Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Electronic documentation of all patient encounters.
    • Communicate with team physicians, coaching staff, and athletic training colleagues regarding the injury status of athletes.
    • Act as a Clinical Instructor for student athletic trainers assigned to the team.

    Education/Experience

    Required: A degree in Athletic Training

    Required: Current certification through the NATA BOC and current Utah State Licensure

    Certification/Licenses: Must be BOC certified and possess State Athletic Training Licensure
