Position Overview
The Emergency Department Technician provides basic nursing care (i.e., personal and restorative care) to patients according to predefined standards, a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse, and under the direct supervision of the LPN/RN staff.

Graduate from a Nurse Aide program and/or equivalent experience.
Must complete BCLS certification by the end of position orientation. Must maintain current BCLS certification.
Emergency Department experience preferred.
Visual acuity to observe patients and use manual/automated documentation tools. Must be able to communicate - possesses effective reading, writing and verbal skills. Auditory acuity to hear verbal communication and gather data using auscultory skills. Must be able to function under stress. Keen mental faculties to perform data collection and patient care. Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Emotionally stability conducive to dealing with a high stress level for 6-8 hours per 8 hour shift associated with care for acute patients/SO, fast paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians and other healthcare workers.
Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 6-71/2 hours per 8 hour shift and adroitly manage multiple pieces of equipment/tubes invasive lines. Physical demands: stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
