    Job Summary


    The Director of Athletics is responsible for advancing the institution's mission and vision through athletics, while enhancing and providing oversight to Coastal Georgia's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and The Sun Conference athletic programs. As well as serving as a member of the President's leadership team, the Director is responsible for leading athletic programs that encourage and support the development of scholar-athletes, as well as providing competitive platforms for teams, while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and performance and sustaining a culture of excellence.

    This position requires an adherence to learning, sportsmanship, professionalism and respect, at all levels. The Director will engage collaboratively with campus leadership and administrative offices as appropriate on matters relating to athletic administration; scholar-athlete recruitment, well-being and retention; resource development and management; and publicity, communications, and media.

    This position reports to the College President and is designated by the institution as Essential Personnel and as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

    Responsibilities


    1 -
    Providing leadership, administrative direction, and oversight for all athletic programs and activities, while creating and managing departmental resources in a fiscally responsible manner. Coordinating the development of near-term and long-term strategies and resource planning for athletics.

    2 -
    Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, NAIA, conference and College regulations, maintaining program compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordination of the certification of academic and health eligibility for varsity athletes.

    3 -
    Advances the success of student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and personal development.

    4 -
    Leading athletics stakeholder cultivation and management, within and external to the college.

    5 -
    Responsible for overall supervision, mentoring, evaluation and guidance for the coaches and staff and the scheduling and other related activities of athletic events.

    6 -
    Ensuring optimal integration and marketing of athletic programs among students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community by coordinating activities and developing strategies in consultation with other marketing, communications, and publicity operations of the College.

    7 -
    Facilitate athletic resource development and management in an ongoing progressive funding program, including working to cultivate and solicit donations and gifts from major donors in compliance with college procedures and in cooperation with advancement and business offices.

    8 -
    Performing other duties as may be assigned by the President.

    Required Qualifications


    Educational Requirements
    • Masters degree from an accredited institution

    Other Required Qualifications
    • A commitment to the development of scholar-athletes and to the integral role of athletics in student success for all students
    • Must possess a current valid driver license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.

    Required Experience
    • Five years of experience as a senior-level athletic administrator or head coach at NCAA or NAIA institutions.
