Prepares and reviews various agreements, contracts, and other legal documents. Additionally, Attorney represents the organization in litigation, negotiations, and other matters where legal counsel is required. May have a billable hours requirement. Requires a JD. Assistant State’s Attorney
The Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for an entry level Assistant State’s Attorney. This position offers the right candidate an opportunity to practice in a supportive office with an excellent staff and robust training resources.
Our Assistant State’s Attorneys work closely with law enforcement, our victim witness unit and other allied agencies to provide for the safety of our community and just application of the law. As an entry level prosecutor, you would work primarily in the District Court with opportunities in Circuit Court available on a merit basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducting trials and pretrial hearings
Meeting with and preparing witnesses and victims
Providing legal guidance to law enforcement
Engaging in community outreach
Managing all phases of criminal litigation
Qualifications:
Graduation from accredited law school
Member in good standing with the Maryland Bar
Experience in criminal litigation or a judicial clerkship is preferred but not required
Salary: $77,085 with benefits
