Attorney is responsible for using specialized knowledge of national, state, and/or local laws to advise and represent clients and organizations in criminal or civil proceedings and other legal matters. Provides legal advice and counsel in support of business activities and transactions. Being an Attorney researches and interprets existing laws and regulations and anticipated changes to laws to guide informed decisions and reduce risk. Prepares and reviews various agreements, contracts, and other legal documents. Additionally, Attorney represents the organization in litigation, negotiations, and other matters where legal counsel is required. May have a billable hours requirement. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to a manager. The Attorney work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. - Draft initial reports, interim reports, pre-trial reports
- Draft discovery and respond to discovery
- Draft and respond to discovery related motions
- Regularly attend court appearances
- Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses
- Draft various motions
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Admitted to practice in the State of California
- 1-7 years of Workers' Compensation defense experience preferred but not required
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent research abilities and written and oral communication skills
