The Office of the Illinois Attorney General is seeking attorneys interested in taking civil rights cases through jury trial in federal court. The General Law Bureau defends the State of Illinois and its officials in 42 U.S.C. § 1983 litigation arising from the United States Constitution, including Eighth Amendment claims involving the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Attorneys interested in obtaining hands-on federal court litigation from motions practice, depositions and other discovery, and jury trials will gain valuable first-chair experience in this role. Attorneys will hone their legal research and writing and oral advocacy skills as well as work closely with their assigned experienced mentors/supervisors who will guide them through litigation procedures and strategy.
