    Salary Range

    $55,000.00 depending on qualifications

    Essential Functions


    The University is currently looking to fill a position for a Classroom and Audio-Visual Technician. This position’s main function is to provide IT assistance to faculty, students, and staff with respect to classroom technology, audio visual equipment, and communications. This role is to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the university.

    1. Maintain all service and repairs of the University audio video equipment and fully integrated conference rooms including auditoriums, classrooms and meeting rooms.

    2. Test audio DSP or video processing systems software required for system functionality.

    3. Provide engineering and DSP system programming support to project installation team when needed.

    4. Write code for DSP systems.

    5. Make minor programming changes to meet classroom needs.

    6. Troubleshooting and repairs for various kinds of audiovisual equipment, consisting of but not limited to: laptops, projectors, microphones, DSP’s mini-mixers, and cabling (in person, by telephone, or via email.)

    7. Interact with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with equipment and software.

    8. Participate in important technological department projects and perform problem diagnosis of A/V environment under IT Management direction.

    9. Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future A/V needs.

    10. Conduct research on A/V products in support of procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase.

    11. Working with ITS staff, the CISO and various departmental staff to provide excellent support services.

    12. Occasional videography and editing.

    Required Qualifications


    1. Associate’s degree

    2. Two (2) years of relevant technical experience (part-time work can be combined if relevant.)

    3. Proficiency in A/V technologies, diagnosing and resolving software and hardware incidents, and installing.

    4. Sound judgement, tact, and the ability to multi-task under pressure are essential characteristics.

    5. Must have a valid driver's license and transportation (position will need to travel between Odessa and Midland campuses.)

    1. Applicants should be self-motivated and highly detail-oriented problem solvers who are proactive, adaptable, and observant.

    2. Exceptional experience in lieu of a degree can be considered for application.

    Schedule

    Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.


    Standard Working Conditions

    1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
    2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
    3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
    4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
    5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
    6. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
