Audio Visual Technician responsibilities include installing, configuring, operating, disassembling, and troubleshooting audio visual equipment. Performs production editing, routine maintenance, and inventory tracking. Being an Audio Visual Technician coordinates with clients on placement, integration, and ensures functionality of projectors, lighting, microphones, sound mixing, recording and video-conferencing equipment for live events and meetings. Responds to and resolves routine questions and technical issues. Additionally, Audio Visual Technician may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Audio Visual Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Work with team in providing quality audio-visual setup and operation for live outdoor concerts, special events and other performances. Perform audio visual work for city sponsored activities, such as Special Events, Arts in the Parks, Summer Fete, and private functions.
Position to begin in mid to late May, but there is some flexibility in starting date. 15-25 hours per week on average, with more as needed. Position will run through the end of August, with possibility for additional work beyond. Job duties to take place at Bloomington Civic Plaza, the Normandale Lake Bandshell, and other parks and venues throughout Bloomington.
INCENTIVES IN 2024
Commitment Bonus- A seasonal employee who works until at least August 9th will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
Referral Bonus– A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck. Referral paperwork required within one week of employees start date and both employees must be employed for the entirety of the scheduled season to be eligible.
Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions. In addition, Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligable for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
