Automotive Mechanic performs maintenance and repairs on automobiles and light trucks. Performs major repairs like body work, chassis and engine repair, and disassembling and assembling components. Being an Automotive Mechanic also performs minor repairs and maintenance work such as replacing worn drive belts, hoses, and filters. Helps diagnose issues, uses electronic indicator systems to identify problems, and performs routine safety checks on brakes, suspension, exhaust, cooling, and other systems. Additionally, Automotive Mechanic adheres to appropriate safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Automotive Mechanic works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. The Automotive Technician is responsible for identifying necessary vehicle service and performing the repair, service, and/or maintenance work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
A. Education: High school diploma or equivalent
B. Physical Requirements: Good physical health including ability to occasionally lift 60 pounds. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, pushing, standing, stooping and walking. Occasional climbing, crawling, crouching and reaching.
C. Working Conditions: Required to work at varying temperature and humidity. Occasionally subjected to vibrations, mechanical and electrical hazards. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes and dust. The noise level may be high.
D. Licenses: Must possess valid driver’s license.
E. Other: – ASE certification.
–A high level of motivation and demonstrated ability to learn and succeed.
–Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
