Job Description
Under general supervision, the Airport Maintenance Technician Crew Leader conducts daily services to the airport’s facilities, including surrounding buildings and passenger boarding bridges.
Employee supervises maintenance staff and monitors performance of outsourced vendors or service contract workers. Employee has contact with the public, tenants, and vendors which requires tact and diplomacy.
Employee must abide by and ensure all safety rules and regulations.
Job Responsibilities
1.Initiates the facilities preventive maintenance program, and ensures work is completed on time.
3. Supervises maintenance work of outside contractors performing building maintenance or construction for the department.
4. Supervises and preforms minor mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry and painting work as needed.
5. Performs and / or assists in replacing or repairing valves, water faucets and other plumbing appurtenances as needed.
6. Performs and / or assists in replacing and / or repairing lighting ballasts and fixtures in the airport facilities both inside and outside.
7. Inspects and / or cleans HVAC apparatuses including, but not limited to blower assembly, blower housing, blower wheel, motor, evaporator coils, control boxes associated controls, wiring and water valves.
8. Cleans and replaces air filters for facility.
9. Inspects HVAC ductwork for leaks and provide repairs as needed.
10. Measures temperature and adjust airflow to ideal conditions, changes capacitors and checks the vent system for proper operation.
11. Repairs and adjusts conveyor systems, using hand tools, including installation of conveyors belts, adjusts tension rollers, straightens / aligns ancillary parts, and replaces defective parts.
12. Assists with other related job assignments in the department as needed.
13. Coordinates with other City departments on tasks or projects that would be essential to the safety and operation of the airport facilities.
14. Assumes all duties in absence of an airport maintenance technician.
15. Uses courtesy, tact and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Requirements - 1. Job requires an accredited high school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Job requires a minimum of three (3) years of job related work experience. Must have working knowledge of electrical, air conditioning / heating, carpentry, and using a two-way radio.
3. Position requires a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
4. A current apprentice electrician license is preferred.
5. Must be able to communicate effectively, at all levels.
6. Must be customer-service oriented, have a customer friendly attitude and professional appearance at all times.
7. Must be able to use general office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine and other general office equipment.
8. Must have the ability to understand facility safety and operational policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
1.Job requires exterting over 100 lbs. ocassionally, 50-100 lbs, frequently, or up to 20-75 lbs constantly.
2.Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold weather conditions.
3.Constant physical movement and demands physical strength associated with hard labor or forceful physical efforts.
4.Ability to walk, climb stairs, ladder, lift and scaffolds, balance, scoop, kneel, crouch, pull, push, distinguish colors.
Additional Information
1. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2. This position has supervisory responsibilities.
3. Airport is manned 24 hours per day, 365 days per year and schedule will vary.
4. Job requires working nights, weekends, holidays and / or during hurricane or other emergencies.
