Aviation Manager manages overall aviation operations focused on operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory and organizational operating policies, procedures, and standards. Develops plans and schedules skill development and training sessions for pilots, crews, and operators. Being a Aviation Manager ensures all operations follow and comply with current FAA regulations, airworthiness, and safety standards. Oversees flight scheduling, aircraft maintenance, and inspection operations. Additionally, Aviation Manager applies risk management best practices for safety to assess and manage operations May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Aviation Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Aviation Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     A Day in the Life of the Aviation Parts Manager

    As the Aviation Parts Manager, you will be primarily responsible for maintaining sufficient inventory to accommodate the daily needs of the Repair Station and distributing those parts to the Technicians as requested by performing the following duties. 

     

    Primary Roles of The Aviation Parts Manager

    Parts Management

    • Maintain inventory levels and pricing of standard parts.
    • Acts as a buyer for timely, cost-effective, and disciplined acquisition of quality materials in support of aircraft maintenance.
    • Track ordered parts until received.
    • Maintain warehouse organization.
    • Explore all avenues to locate hard-to-find parts.
    • Process and track the status of returned component cores.
    • Perform shipping and receiving duties.
    • Directs disposition of all unserviceable inventory for repair.
    • Evaluate suppliers through objective performance measurements.
    • Conduct semi-annual inventory audits.
    • File and track parts warranty claims
    • Manage capacity, demand, and inventory levels to meet customer needs.
    • Responsible for helping to coordinate the management of AOG and non-AOG critical material.
      Responsible for ensuring that purchased and repaired items are airworthy and have required certification documentation by performing incoming inspections as specified in the Repair Station policies.
    • Resolves problem invoices that have a pricing or receipt discrepancy.
    • Ensures that items are prepared for shipping in a proper manner to protect against damage.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Department Director.
    • Works with company accounts payable to verify the accuracy of received invoices for parts and services purchased.
     
    Secondary Roles of The Aviation Parts Manager
    Assist in driving a safe work culture
    • Promote safety within the workplace by monitoring others and yourself to guarantee all tasks are performed within safety guidelines and communicating with other mechanics and supervisors to coordinate repairs and keep apprised of safety concerns.
    • Participate in the company's SMS program.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 3 years of Aviation background and experience required in material management.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities
    • Able to communicate well and make presentations to senior-level leadership.
    • Available after normal duty hours and on weekends to support AOG aircraft as needed.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Corridor aircraft maintenance software (or similar) experience is preferred.
    • Team oriented.
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

     

    Working Conditions:

    • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate, and talk or hear.
    • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • The noise level is usually moderate.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
