ASSISTANT MANAGER / MAIN LEAD
PURPOSE
To provide Excellence in customer service by consistently and accurately preparing catering and
made to order to customer request. To develop an intuitive sense of customer service and to devote
strict attention to cleanliness detail. To establish and maintain a fast pace at the sandwich line and
throughout the store while cleaning. To lead by example, be cross-trained in several positions and
to handle minor problems when the owner is not in the store.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned: These duties are to be performed every day, whether or not the owners
are present.
1. Oversee all operations at the bakery. This includes the volume and type of music played
during all business hours.
Approach all aspects of job with the following priorities in mind:
Customers always come first... they must be acknowledged and served with a sense of urgency! All customers are greeted with a smile and in a friendly manner.
Customer/sales/dining area must be kept neat and clean
Chores must be done routinely and consistently--prep, bagging, cleaning, etc.
2. Serve customers in a patient, cheerful way that reflects how we value our customers, our
products, and our business.
3. Prioritize all chores with product quality and presentation in mind...bagging and
merchandising/display of product is the top priority in chores (this includes how sandwiches
look as they go out).
4. Enforce all Great Harvest rules and policies, including but not limited to those contained in
the Employee Handbook. (dress code)
5. Supervise the crew to provide excellence in food quality to included breads, goodies, drinks,
and sandwiches. If someone makes a mistake, remember that we believe in Henry Ford’s
advice: DON’T FIND FAULT, FIND A REMEDY. Never attack or belittle someone for a
mistake, the next mistake may be yours. Treat staff with utmost courtesy and respect at all
times.
6. Approve schedule changes for the team as needed.
7. Handle all cash transactions with 100% accuracy; handle cash according to policy! Be
efficient and proficient in all aspects of POS operation-- gift cards, coupons, misrings, etc.
8. Handle all products as if they were worth 10 times their price-- handle and package with care.
9. Hustle at all times...moving fast yet neatly and safely.
10. Answer phones in a way that is consistent with our standards of customer service, using a
friendly and cheerful voice.
11. Develop a sharp sense of product knowledge using assigned materials and training sessions to be
able to satisfactorily answer customer's questions -- be a bread expert/sandwich expert!
12. Take special orders properly. Name and phone # of orders are a must. Organize orders so
that production staff can fill every order on its due date.
13. Clean the store using checklists to our standards.
14. Make every effort to offer our customers service above and beyond the call of duty--before we
open, after we close, help to car, deliver if possible, etc.--to establish our store as excellent in
customer service.
15. Help out in any assigned "Winning Hearts" projects or events.
16. Adhere to the dress code.
17. Be available extra hours during holiday seasons (Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas at a
minimum).
These duties are to be performed in the owner’s absence:
1. Respond to any emergencies that may arise regarding production staff during production
hours. If the Counter Manager is on duty, assist the Counter Manager in handling any
emergencies involving customers:
Ensure that 911 is dialed as soon feasible in the event of a medical crisis, fire, crime,
or a similar emergency.
Handle any last-minute production scheduling changes such as those caused by
sudden illness or emergency.
Notify owners as soon as possible of any emergency.
1. Attempt to resolve any open conflicts that may arise between production employees and
customers, or between fellow production employees. Report any serious conflicts to the
owners as soon as feasible.
2. Prepare & manage daily deposits, maintain change box at $300 as needed
3. Ensure Square and Menufy are up to date, to include menu items, customers, sale items,
returns, and other daily tasks.
1. Provide feedback to the owners on any problems that arise as soon as possible.
