Bakery Manager oversees operations and staffing for the bakery department within a grocery store. Manages pastry making and baking, suggests changes to inventory and pricing, and purchases supplies when needed. Being a Bakery Manager monitors quality of goods and service. Responsible for department staff training, assignments, and scheduling. Additionally, Bakery Manager requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Bakery Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Baker/Bakery Assistant
32-40 hours per week, depending on availability and scheduling
Pay rate minimum is $15.50 or more per hour plus tips, more based on experience and performance
Must be able and available to work until 6-6:30pm during the week, 3:30pm weekends. Full time schedule is typically Tues-Fri 9-6:15, Saturdays 9-3:15.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Following recipes and procedures
- Work under our head chef and with other team members
- Mixing, baking, scooping, and cutting cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts
- Creating and flavoring frostings and fillings
- Filling and icing cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts
- Keeping track of inventory
- Restocking ingredients and other tools/boards/etc
- Maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment and environment
- Participating in dishwashing daily and as necessary
- Participating in daily cleaning of all areas
- Refuse and recycling removal
- Packaging and box making
- Assist customers with walk-in purchases
- Answer phone calls and accept/take custom orders
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate efficiently and make good working relationships
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to special or unexpected circumstances
- Ability to learn new skills from an experienced staff
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Strive to advance skills and knowledge
- Previous experience in similar position OR higher level of related schooling/training is preferred but not necessary
- Basic knowledge of food health and safety standards
- Ability to lift and move 50lbs
