    Primary Purpose of Position
    This position will be responsible for the full administration of student loans, inclusive of certifying Federal Subsidized / Unsubsidized Direct Loans, Federal Parent Loans, and Alternative Loans for Graduate and Undergraduate Students. Also responsible for the certification of private alternative student loans. In addition, the Loan Processing Coordinator will collaborate with the Debt Manager and Financial Literacy Coordinator to lead efforts as related to default prevention activities for the College to include outreach to delinquent borrowers and perform data analysis of defaulters with the purpose of utilizing this information to influence College policies and procedures that promote student success and successful repayment. In addition, they will verify and analyze data to award financial aid, including grants and loans.

    The primary purpose of the Office of Student Financial Aid is to administer financial aid in a professional and compassionate manner to students and other customers while assuring the University’s compliance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations. The office is also responsible for reconciling programs, conducting workshops, ensuring compliance with athletic aid as well as other responsibilities.

    Duties
    • Understands federal, state, and other programs regarding Federal and Private Student Loans in order to explain guidelines and changes to students and parents.
    • Advise students and parents on on best loan and borrowing practices.
    • Resolves issues relating to most financial aid questions and inquiries regarding these processes.
    • Serves as a backup advisor during registration and other University events.
    • Monitors, retrieves, scans, and indexes confidential student and parent information to students’ electronic files within Banner System.
    • Ensures students complete all requirements for disbursements.
    • Troubleshoots computer and BDMS issues without the assistance of IT when capable.

    • Counsels students/parents one on one in the office via telephone and/or email on financial aid processes such as the verification and withdrawal.

    • Uses appropriate interpersonal skills and methods to resolve conflict.
    • Works effectively with others and participates as a member of the team to meet deadlines (calculations to be done within 30 days of initial withdrawal), improve service to achieve the goals of the office.
    • Responds to all telephone calls and or emails within a timely manner.
    • Corresponds with students and parents in person, via the telephone and with email.
    • Assists with financial aid workshops.
    • Explains various aspects of the financial aid awarding process to students and parents.

    • Assesses and resolves unprecedented problems that require research and review of policy and procedures.
    • Applies judgment for problem resolutions based on delegated authority from supervisor.
    • Understands issues with verification, return of title IV calculations, the usage of BDMS and CISCO systems and identify problems and be able to communicate the issues/concerns.
    • Resolves verification issue and contacts the appropriate person is unable to resolve; corrects problem immediately.
    • Makes decision on verification.
    • Works closely with the Associate Director with the School Servicing Center for verification.

    • Uses the BDMS system and CISCO telephone system to improve communication and ensure the accuracy of the receipt of documents received in the office.
    • Understands the use of these two systems to be able assist team members on how to use the technology and provide any updates/changes.
