Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager assists in the management of the loan processing operations team that originates, processes, and closes various types of loans. Implements processes and procedures to maintain accuracy and completeness of required documentation. Being a Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager monitors achievement of operating performance metrics and standards for speed, quality, and customer service. Develops solutions to resolve operational issues. Additionally, Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager oversees the preparation of reporting for internal departments and external agencies. Coordinates audit requests and processes. Develops training and communication mechanisms that inform the team of regulatory requirements and updates. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The duties of a Mortgage Loan Manager include, but are not limited to:

    • Establishing and cultivating a sales culture within the department. Monitoring results and working directly with staff to meet or exceed expected sales performance. Communicating effectively with members and staff at all levels. Encouraging open communication and the sharing of ideas between all staff and departments. Serving as the main liaison between the Mortgage Department and external/internal auditors and regulatory examiners.  
    • Overseeing the preparation and production of department reports, as well as any other special reports as requested or needed. Monitoring staff's individual performance and conducting periodic meetings to review results. Effectively monitoring and evaluating employee and official family loans, ensuring that regulatory compliance and protocol are followed.   
    • Exhibiting sound judgment in making decisions while adhering to Credit Union policies and procedures. Reviewing and evaluating all pertinent information prior to making decisions. Analyzing account information before making decisions or recommendations. Approving loans within established approval limits and deciding when to make reasonable loan level policy exceptions. Maintaining awareness and enforcing compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures. Serving as the department's compliance-lead on all matters regulatory in nature.
    • Leading or participating in special projects and/or committees assigned by Executive Management, reporting results in a timely manner. Proactively coordinating activities of the department to meet strategic goals. Participating in the budget forecasting and accounts payable process. Representing the Credit Union at local and national industry conferences, education events, and networking meetings. Developing staff by providing support, training, coaching, and timely feedback. Serving as a positive role model in communication, ethics, teamwork, and service. Continually looking for ways to improve department results. Developing and implementing procedures to ensure efficiency and overall effectiveness. 
    • Implementing policies, procedures, and rules in an appropriate manner. Enforcing the policies and procedures governing the operations of the department, as determined by the Board of Directors and/or President, the bylaws, statutes, and state and federal rulings.

    Registration in the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) is required for this position. If the individual is not currently registered, he or she will be required to pass applicable background screening, which may be different from what was required to become employed by the Credit Union.
