Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager assists in the management of the loan processing operations team that originates, processes, and closes various types of loans. Implements processes and procedures to maintain accuracy and completeness of required documentation. Being a Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager monitors achievement of operating performance metrics and standards for speed, quality, and customer service. Develops solutions to resolve operational issues. Additionally, Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager oversees the preparation of reporting for internal departments and external agencies. Coordinates audit requests and processes. Develops training and communication mechanisms that inform the team of regulatory requirements and updates. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Banking & Commercial Loan Processing Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Position Overview 

    The Commercial Loan Officer will be responsible for achieving customer service and sales goals as established in the Lending Division’s annual operating plan. This individual will perform a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers while complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial services function. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities. 
    • Serves as a member of the Bank's sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development. 
    • Effectively utilizes the bank’s Customer Relationship Management program to track customer sales and service activities as well as cultivate prospective opportunities within the office’s market area. 
    • Maintains an active role in community affairs to improve Bank’s visibility in the area; serves on various civic committees to increase Bank community involvement.  
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all Bank commercial products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs. 
    • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems. 
    • Develops and manages commercial loan accounts which meet established lending requirements and which provide maximum profitability to the Bank with minimum risk. 
    • Requests applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to the loan applicant’s evaluation. 
    • Compiles loan packages and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant; ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to Bank policy; assures timely loan closing and funding activities; approves loans within established lending authority. 
    • Maintains credit quality and portfolio administration within bank guidelines including participation in the collection of delinquent accounts. 
    • Continues ongoing education to stay abreast of current lending regulations and procedures. 
    • Interviews loan applicants and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general creditability of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request; establishes and negotiates the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment, and collateral requirement. 
    • Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis. 
    • Maintains a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services. 
    • Achieves goals assigned to the Commercial Loan Officer as part of the Lending Division’s annual operating plan. 
    • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other bank personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy. 
    • Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of customer service and sales performance reports. 
    • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports. 
    • Communicates with department management, other department managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities. 

    Education & Qualifications 

    • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field normally required; specialized banking education and training. 
    • A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years' experience in related positions normally required. 

    Skill(s) 

    Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver’s license is required.
