Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for the documentation and filing of loan bankruptcy materials with the appropriate attorneys. Ensures full compliance with loan bankruptcy regulations. Being a Bankruptcy Specialist monitors accounts throughout the loan bankruptcy process and contacts appropriate party when necessary. Verifies the bankruptcy is secured and acquires a copy of the proposed Chapter 13 Plan on all secured accounts. Additionally, Bankruptcy Specialist captures Chapter 7 reaffirmation agreements to management for approval. Distributes account balances and interest rates to the secured and unsecured balances. Stays current with changing state specific bankruptcy laws. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Duties:
- Transcribe legal documents and correspondence
- Manage and organize electronic and physical files using document management systems
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information
- Assist with drafting and editing legal documents
- Prepare bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other required documentation
- Review bankruptcy filings for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain communication with clients, courts, and other parties involved in bankruptcy cases
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently
- Provide general clerical support
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Bankruptcy Paralegal or similar role
- Knowledge of bankruptcy laws and procedures
- Proficiency in document management systems and legal software
- Strong research skills and the ability to gather relevant information from various sources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Spanish preferred but not required
Knowledge:
Candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft software, the internet, and possess excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
