Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for the documentation and filing of loan bankruptcy materials with the appropriate attorneys. Ensures full compliance with loan bankruptcy regulations. Being a Bankruptcy Specialist monitors accounts throughout the loan bankruptcy process and contacts appropriate party when necessary. Verifies the bankruptcy is secured and acquires a copy of the proposed Chapter 13 Plan on all secured accounts. Additionally, Bankruptcy Specialist captures Chapter 7 reaffirmation agreements to management for approval. Distributes account balances and interest rates to the secured and unsecured balances. Stays current with changing state specific bankruptcy laws. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Operations Support Specialist is a member of the operations section of the Bankruptcy Clerk’s Office. The incumbent is responsible for all facets of case progression, including opening cases, docketing, managing cases from inception to conclusion, ensuring accuracy of electronic case filing system entries, and responding to inquiries regarding filings. Additionally, the incumbent provides on-site technical support to the divisional office. The incumbent is a liaison between the systems staff and the divisional office and reports to the Lubbock Division Manager.
Representative duties are as follows:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate. Two years of general clerical experience plus two years specialized experience (progressively responsible experience related to the processing of legal documents, use of specialized terminology, and demonstrated ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives or laws).

The selected candidate will be subject to a criminal history and financial background investigations by law enforcement agencies, which include FBI fingerprinting as a condition of employment. The applicant must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident (i.e., green card holder) who is seeking citizenship. Retention depends upon a favorable suitability determination.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree along with legal experience and/or CM/ECF experience. Broad working knowledge of bankruptcy processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of the purpose and content of documents and events in order to make docket entries and take appropriate actions.

Court employees are not included in the government’s civil service classification.
