SUMMARY:
The Banquet Captain will supervise and manage all catering events for our company. The Banquet Captain will be responsible for managing the staff schedule, ensuring that banquet operations run smoothly, and prioritizing the comfort and safety of our guests.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome guests upon their arrival and assist them with their seating arrangements.
- Assist managers and organizers with planning the layout and logistics of events.
- Set up and managing staff shifts and timetables.
- Develop and provide staff with the necessary training, including customer service and serving etiquette.
- Manage the setup of events.
- Run the floor and coordinate the food and drink service by liaising with the kitchen and service staff.
- Monitor the inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
- Tend to guests' requests, questions, and complaints.
- Ensure that the venue and facilities remain neat and clean.
- Ensure all guest requirements are set and ready 30 minutes before event start time
- Ensure that all applicable safety regulations are communicated and adhered to.
- Maintain constant contact with the banquet chef, to ensure conclusion between food production and food service.
- Monitor banquet personnel in the performance of their duties.
- Ensure high grooming and hygiene standards are met by all banquet staff.
- Guide, direct, and motivate banquet staff, provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Monitors the profitability of functions to ensure quality and portion control while minimizing waste and broken or lost supplies.
- Ensures all guest checks are billed and signed by the host according to planned arrangements.
- Establishes, maintains and updates files, databases, records and/or other documents
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in hospitality or similar preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a banquet captain or similar.
- Excellent leadership abilities and the ability to manage many staff members.
- Great time management and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to provide an excellent level of customer service, even in stressful situations.
- Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays.
- Highly energetic and motivated individual with excellent guest service skills
- Excellent MS Office skills; to include word processing and Excel
- Accurate data entry skills
- Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under tight deadline and pressure.
- Ability to interface professionally with business contacts and customers
- Ability to answer incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment and tact.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background investigation, and maintain a Pauma Gaming Commission License.
