Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain will ensure that members and guests have a pleasant and memorable experience at member-sponsored private events and that expectations of member-hosts are met. Under the supervision of the Banquet Manager, the Banquet Captain will oversee and monitor all aspects of assigned events including set-up, service and breakdown. The Banquet Captain will assist in the scheduling, supervision and training of staff and oversee temporary staff to ensure Club standards for performance and safety are consistently met. The Banquet Captain will coordinate food service between the kitchen and servers and respond to server requests for help with any issues they cannot handle themselves. Calm under pressure, the Banquet Captain will display a true customer service orientation, be able to respond effectively to anything that comes up during service and know when to escalate to the next level of management. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. The pay range for this position is $24-$33/hour based on experience.
1. At least 3 years of previous experience in a similar luxury environment, including at least one year as a supervisor, manager or lead
2. Knowledge of and experience with food and beverage industry standards and best practices; strong knowledge of wine a plus
3. High school graduate level education
4. Enthusiasm, a service-first mindset, and a passion for the hospitality and service industry
5. A 5-star attitude and warm-friendly personality
6. A strong work ethic and team player abilities; able to shift priorities quickly and respond to changing circumstances effectively
7. Strong verbal and written English-language communication skills; able to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders; bi-lingual Spanish preferred
8. Able to supervise effectively; to motivate and inspire team members to work to their maximum potential and resolve problems quickly and effectively
9. Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, email and POS. Able to learn new programs and applications quickly and easily
10. Organized and proactive, able to effectively organize paper and electronic files as well as storage for physical objects
11. Punctual and reliable with exceptional personal presentation
