It is the primary responsibility of the Banquet Supervisor Captain to assist in the management and maintenance of the banquet and convention facilities while ensuring banquet functions result in success. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
Specific Job Functions:• Maintain the quality of appearance of the banquet and convention facility
• Delegate and direct work to the Banquet servers, especially “Special requirements needed”
• Maintain banquet and convention equipment and keep equipment organized in storage areas
• Check banquet rooms to ensure rooms are set to the department specifications
• Conduct roll call with servers and pre-shift for set-up staff
• Maintain direct communication with group contact during functions
• Complete and delegate special requests
• Complete captain’s reports
• Interact with other departments involved with Banquet functions
• Supervise set-up staff and assist when necessary in the set up of banquet rooms
• Supervise and direct servers during set up, service and breakdown
• Order banquet supplies to maintain a satisfactory PAR level
• Secure banquet rooms, if closing
• Make sure the set-up staff has completed room set-ups for the following day
• Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department
• Minimum two years’ banquet, catering or convention experience• Well-educated, excellent math, drafting and communication skills• Basic computer skills preferred• Knowledge of banquet equipment• Knowledge of service and set-up standards• Communicate effectively in English both verbally and written form• Professional appearance and demeanor a must
