Banquet Manager jobs in Norfolk, VA
Banquet Manager plans, directs and coordinates banquets held within the establishment. Negotiates contracts, assists in the selection of menu items, schedules banquet staff, arranges for facilities or equipment, and communicates customer needs to the appropriate personnel. Being a Banquet Manager develops and maintains banquet accounts by ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after the event. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Banquet Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Banquet Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Banquet Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Norfolk Yacht & Country Club is accepting applications for full and part time banquet servers and bartenders for full service, a la carte dining, and banquet. Prior experience preferred. Qualified candidates will have a great attitude, be a team player and be very customer service and hospitality oriented.
The major responsibilities of this position are:
- Set up sections and performs assigned side work
- Provides exceptional food and beverage service to club members and guests in a timely manner.
- Answers questions and suggests menu items; is descriptive with menu items and how they are prepared
- Develops excellent knowledge of menu, wine list and drink specials
- Works as a team with others; help with guests and side work
- Presents the bill in a timely manner
- Processes charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures
- Keeps tables, dining room and bus station areas clean
- Performs clean-up, closing duties, and room resets as assigned by manager
- Attends pre-service meetings (Line up)
- Reports to work in proper uniform
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Shift:
- Day shift
- Night shift
Weekly day range:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
