Banquet Manager plans, directs and coordinates banquets held within the establishment. Negotiates contracts, assists in the selection of menu items, schedules banquet staff, arranges for facilities or equipment, and communicates customer needs to the appropriate personnel. Being a Banquet Manager develops and maintains banquet accounts by ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after the event. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Banquet Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Banquet Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Banquet Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Key Responsibilities of the Banquet Server:
· Prepares function site and assures meeting room is set according to specifications.
· Serves food and beverage items to guests based on established guidelines.
· Sets dining tables, buffets, and other service areas as according to Banquet Event Order or as directed.
· Communicates guest requests and concerns to the department manager.
· Helps to maintain a clean banquet or catering kitchen, coolers, and equipment.
· Assists in inventory control and monitoring waste in the banquet or catering area.
· Ensures the guests are provided with excellent customer service by anticipating their needs before they arise.
· Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
· Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications for the Banquet Server:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months of banquet setting and service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Must be able to meet state age requirements to serve alcohol.
Other Qualifications:
· Demonstrates good energy and motivation.
· Regular and reliable attendance.
