JOB SUMMARY:
The Kiln Set Up Technician prepares product to be sintered in kilns and loads and unloads kilns as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Safely loads and unloads kilns, taking care not to chip parts.
- Blows off parts and places them on refractory for sintering, ensuring that the proper sand, setter, and refractory is used.
- Completes and maintains paperwork as needed for product flow and data entry.
- Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, performing a variety of other machining operations in any one of STC’s three production locations
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School education or equivalent work experience
- Attention to detail, with the ability to follow precise instructions and procedures
- Comfort level working with computers
- Ability to work independently, and under the pressure of deadlines
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed on the shop floor, which can be noisy and dusty, as well as hot during the summer. Proper safety equipment is provided by STC where necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work involves prolonged periods of standing/sitting in one place performing redundant tasks. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. May be required to bend and/or squat to properly inspect or run equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push hand carts loaded with up to 500 lbs., and to climb stairs to load kilns.
