Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Our 11th Floor at Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital is a newly created 12-bed Pediatric Medical/Psychiatric Unit. This brand-new unit is designed to provide services to patients that need medical and psychiatric care. On this unit we will provide care for our patients with an interdisciplinary team including psychiatrist, psychologist, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, social work, chaplains, behavioral health nurses and behavioral health technicians. This unit is designed to provide programing, activities, and education to strengthen our patients’ mental and behavioral health.

    Scope of work

    The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

    Qualifications

    • Associates in Nursing Required
    • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
    • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
    • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
