Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Position Summary:The Director of Outpatient Services has the responsibility for coordination of all outpatient programs and services provided to clientele.

    Essential Functions:

    • Responsible for the overall planning, organization and executions of the functions of the Outpatient program.
    • Direct responsibility and oversight of day to day operations of the program
    • Ensures program adheres to corporate and Northlake policies and procedures, updating and revising policy and procedure as necessary
    • Ensures “survey” readiness and that program follows all accreditation and regulatory requirements such as DHH, CMS, JACHO
    • Responsible for oversight and maintenance of all documentation necessary to meet medical necessity and Medicare/managed care requirements
    • Ensures each disincline completes their assigned responsibilities in timely manner and works collaboratively with all disciplines toward effective team management
    • Implements and follows corporate Risk Management/PI systems.
    • Works in collaboration with marketing staff to develop/implement marketing strategies toward business expansion.
    • Works with clients, community and referral sources to oversee any concerns and maintain positive working relationships with these individuals and organizations always
    • Establishes and maintains system of effective communication throughout organization
    • Works in conjunction with billing department to establish procedure, ensure follow through, monitor any problems or concerns
    • Develops program components that effectively retain referred clients with staff trained ongoing bases on group dynamic skills and proper, reliable documentation of clinical picture
    • Serves on facility wide committees at the request of Director of Clinical Services
    • Committed to further and ongoing development of outpatient services to reflect the needs of the community as well as a commitment to excellence
    • All other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field.

    Specialty certification is preferred.

    Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical work experience and clear understanding of management

    Competency: Position and Age-Related

    Licensure/Certification: Professional clinical license issued by the appropriate licensing body in Louisiana; CPR and CPI certifications required; PMAB certification required, where necessary.

    HIPAA: Has access to and adds information to the Medical Record. May only access medical record of assigned patients.

    Other: Written and oral communication skills; skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention. Knowledge of developmental psychology of youth and adults; needs of youth and adults; Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential; must demonstrate the ability to treat other age populations as needed or have the capacity to develop skills through cross-training and orientation. Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation. Ability to complete required documentation in a timely, accurate manner that is clinically appropriate and within expected timeframes.

    Work Demands/Environment:

    Ability to stoop, lift, finger – for example pick, pinch, or type and grasp, ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange ideas via spoken word conveying detailed information to others accurately and on occasion quickly. Ability to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound. Exerting up to 10 to 1 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to inspect and analyze figures, accounting items, written materials, newsprint, computer terminal characters, transcription and other similar objects at distances generally close to the eyes. This is a minimum standard based on the criteria of accuracy and neatness of work. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Although inside work is the rule, it is required that the individual be able to travel.
