Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide clinical behavioral health services in a manner that upholds the health center's mission and quality standards and results in better patient health outcomes and overall satisfaction, and stronger operational and fiscal capacity of the Wellness Center.
    • Provide supervision and direction to all behavioral health staff. Direct reports may include but are not limited to: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Clinical Social Workers.
    • Closely monitor the productivity of the behavioral health staff and work closely with the Director of Operations to maximize productivity.
    • Conduct regular supervision to observe, mentor, and coach direct reports in a manner that creates a culture of accountability and fosters continuous improvement.
    • Lead regular team meetings to promote programmatic growth
    • Participate in weekly senior leadership meetings and provide input into the growth of Healthcare Services as a whole
    • Conduct behavioral health staff recruitment and retention activities, including the writing and editing of job descriptions.
    • Perform semi-annual and annual performance evaluations of direct reports, review performance evaluation results of all within his or her chain of command.
    • Participate in the Quality and Risk Management Committee, responsible for timely reporting on behavioral health indicators on the Quality Dashboard.
    • Become familiar with regulations, licensures, credentials, and contractual stipulations related to the Department of Behavioral Health and Community Behavioral Health of Philadelphia.
    • Conduct periodic trainings on behavioral health issues for staff members.
    • Review and approve invoices related to Dept. 5200 (Behavioral Health) up to expenses worth $1,000.00
    • Review and respond to monthly SNAP reports for Dept. 5200
    • Ensure compliance with any public funding contracts, including but not limited to the City Dept. of Behavioral Health; contribute to and/or submit reports on programmatic activities to funders and others as needed.
    • Develop and maintain relevant activities to achieve Patient Centered Medical Home status.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's degree in social work, or related field, with a minimum of two years' experience as a therapist and a current license to practice in Pennsylvania as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
    • Strong Microsoft office computer skills.
    • Competency in providing cognitive and behavioral interventions to individuals, families, couples, and groups with behavioral health/substance abuse problems in a primary care setting.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with primary care staff, patients, and other behavioral health clinicians.
    • Experience working with homeless individuals and/or underserved communities preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with providing mental health treatment with patients experiencing homelessness, substance dependence, severe mental illness, and dual diagnosis.
    • Experience in working within an integrated primary care/mental health practice.
    • Knowledge, training, and experience in providing and supervising services in a highly diverse work environment to a highly diverse and vulnerable population.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability to create effective teams, provide and communicate vision, and effectively manage change.
    • Excellent communication skills including diplomacy and tact.
    • Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of de-escalation methods.
    • Excellent prom-solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to remain solution-focused and respectful in all interactions with staff, co-workers, vendors, and clients.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
