Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.   • Primary Responsibilities:
    The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for the clinical management of all counseling and case management services for Virginia practices. The Director will develop area-wide counseling and case management strategies that supports the SaVida mission to provide respectful compassionate and effective treatment. The key elements of the position include: 1) determining the mix of licenses and credentials of counseling and case management staff; 2) recruiting, onboarding and training of staff; 3) setting and meeting clinical quality and productivity performance standards and leading the overall performance management of the team 4) ensuring clinical policies and procedures are updated and followed 5) conformity of regulations
    The Director will work together with the field operations team to implement the counseling and case management strategy and ensure that medical and behavioral services are fully integrated. The Director will oversee the clinical operations of counseling and case management as a service line manager working together with field operations to achieve our mission.
    Essential Duties:
    • Provide clinical supervision and clinical oversight of Behavioral Health Staff.
    • Ensure the financial success of the counseling and case management service lines.
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the pertinent regulations in Maine and develop and implement a counseling and case management strategy.
    • Create recruiting strategies in conjunction with the Recruiter and field operations to attract and retain a team that embraces and fulfills the mission. Interview candidates.
    • Working with SaVida’s training team, determine the onboarding and continuing education process for counselors and case managers. Ensure adequate training of all counseling and case management staff.
    • Working with field operations, determine the measures and metrics that define respectful, compassionate and effective treatment. Work with the executive team and field operations to achieve these metrics. Create an environment that embraces continuous process improvement.
    • Participate in business development activities in support of the company’s growth objectives.
    • Work with HR and field operations to develop a performance management process that rewards high performers and drives long term improvement in counseling and case management organizational effectiveness.
    • Direct, plan and coordinate the work of the clinical staff including supervision, evaluation, skill building and any other applicable activities in accordance with health insurance organizations, state regulatory, and national accreditation standards.
    • Working with field operations, ensure adequate staffing at each site. Ensure effective utilization of the counseling and case management staff.
    • Ensure all new employees have a positive onboarding experience and adequate training. Ensure the completion of staff evaluations. Complete performance evaluations of any direct reports.
    • Ensure that behavioral policies and procedures are up to date and accurate and that they are being followed by agency staff.
    • Attend and represent the company at appropriate events and meetings.
    • Working with the Licensing and Regulatory Director, ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
    • Oversee the monthly clinical note audit.
    • Ensure that counseling and case management services are delivered in a manner consistent with effective revenue cycle management processes. Ensure adequate documentation of all patient encounters and meetings.
    • Provide direct patient care as needed
    Qualifications:
    • Master’s Degree in counseling, social work or other allied mental health field required
    • Independent Licensure; LCSW required
    • Broad knowledge of mental illness and treatment techniques, particularly substance use disorder and comorbidities
    • Three years of experience in a mental health/substance use disorder residential or outpatient treatment setting
    • Demonstrated strategic and operational leadership, program development and decision making abilities
    • Working knowledge of counseling skills including individual, group, IOP
    • Management experience working in the substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling fields
    • Strong working knowledge of EMRs
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Effective interpersonal communication skills to maintain relationships with various stakeholders
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong presentation skills to effectively and professionally represent the company
    • Serve as a role model for other staff members to help maintain professionalism in the workplace including professional boundaries and codes of ethics
    • Must be willing to travel
