Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Key Responsibilities


    Clinical Leadership and Supervision:

    • Provide direct clinical supervision to therapists, social workers, and other clinical staff, offering guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
    • Oversee the implementation of evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment modalities for individuals experiencing PTSD and other trauma-related conditions.
    • Ensure clinical staff maintain professional licensure, certifications, and adhere to ethical codes of conduct.
    • Lead regular case reviews and consultations to foster collaboration and address clinical challenges.


    Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance programs to maintain the highest standards of clinical care.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing behavioral health services, including HIPAA and ethical guidelines.
    • Oversee clinical documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
    • Lead the preparation and response to audits, regulatory reviews, and accreditation processes.


    Staff Management and Development:

    • Hire, train, evaluate, and mentor clinical staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills in trauma-focused practices.
    • Address performance issues promptly and effectively, providing guidance and support for improvement.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources on staff recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.


    Program Development and Evaluation:

    • Analyze clinical data and trends to identify opportunities for program improvement and expansion.
    • Research and introduce innovative, evidence-based treatment approaches for PTSD and related conditions.
    • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to develop integrated care programs for clients.
    • Measure and evaluate program outcomes, reporting on findings to executive leadership and stakeholders.


    Strategic Planning and Growth:

    • Participate in strategic planning initiatives to align clinical operations with the clinic's mission and long-term goals.
    • Identify opportunities for expanding services, developing new programs, and increasing community outreach.
    • Develop and manage the clinical operating budget in collaboration with the executive leadership team.


    Qualifications:


    • Education and Licensure:
    • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
    • Current, unrestricted licensure as a mental health professional (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, Psychologist, etc.) in Utah.


    • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in trauma-focused behavioral health settings.
    • Minimum of 1 years of supervisory or management experience in a behavioral health setting.
    • Demonstrated expertise in many evidence-based treatment modalities for PTSD, such as Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

    Compensation Expectations:

    • A competitive salary ranging from $72,000 - $85,000 and a benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications after 60 days of employment.
    • 32-40 hours a week with a maximum of 20 hours each week of direct care. 
    • Supervision and management of up to 6-8 clinical staff.
    • 95% completion rate of timely clinical documentation for all clinicians.
    • 85% attendance rate of patient pool.
    • 98% reimbursement rate with BOP contract.
