Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Salary range from $84k - $98k, based on experience

    The Behavioral Health Director provides administrative guidance and supervision to mental health staff within a correctional setting. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Coordinator oversees that all clinical needs are being met in order to provide quality behavioral/mental health services. 

    Qualifications


    • Masters level degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited educational institution required
    • Active LCP (Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist) license in the state of Kansas
    • Must show current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification
    • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience preferred
    • Three years' experience with behavioral/mental health in a correctional and/or mental health services environment preferred
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable

    This position requires an on call rotation and may involve one weekend shift. The weekend shift will have a shift differential as well.
