The Banquet Captain is an on call position for events booked in advance. The Banquet Captain will be scheduled for events in advance based availablity for one or multi events in a given week. Corporate meetings & wedding events are the main business at our hotel.

Supervise, train and inspect the performance of the banquet staff with the Banquet Manager, ensure all procedures are completed to the hotel's & Brand's standards. Oversee all areas of maintenance, food presentation, inventory, safety and security. Assist serving where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests. Responsible to assist the Banquet manager in the set up, execution, break down and proper storage of equipment of all banquet functions. Knowledge of wines, mixed beverages, beer, food presentation and associated equipment. Required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, holidays and weekends as scheduled in advance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance to all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to safe food handling and serving of alcohol in all its forms (beer, wine, spirits).
• Ensure appropriate and lean staffing levels for all scheduled and ad hoc banquet events by working with the Banquets Mananger and using the BEO details per event.
• Supervises the banquet team members; effectively serving as the floor manager.
• Have a strong, highly visible, and respectful presence with the guests, be an exceptional communicator, know how to accommodate guests with a high level of service while balancing the needs of the company. Further, the candidate must effectively communicate these expectations to their staff to execute to those guest expectations.
• Have a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness, while also maintaining quality and integrity. Monitor the banquet staff to ensure all operating procedures are being followed.
• Ensure all bar facilities and equipment is properly cleaned, stored, vacuumed, and properly stocked according to anticipated business volume on an event-by-event basis.
• Establish and achieve quality and guest satisfaction goals. Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction per the Hilton standard.
• Analyze guest insights to identify and meet customer expectations and build on guest loyalty.
• Provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback to improve team member performance and manage conflict.
• Directly responsible for the maintenance a of clean, organized, and clearly ordered banquet storage areas.
• Ensures proper banquet check control.
• Coordinate with the Banquet Manager and Bridal party/Guest of Honor to execute the Banquet Event Order. Place and manage staff in the proper positions for successful execution of the expectations.
• Bridal Attendant- Coordinate with the Banquet Manager on the bridal parties needs and movements. Wait on the Guest of Honor/Bride, Groom, and Bridal Party fulfilling their orders and assisting them with any help they may require.
• Ability to transport up to 30lbs through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift

• Other duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager & GM.

Job Type: Part-Time per event schedule(s)

Pay: $18.00 per hour plus event gratuity share

Experience level:

• Experience:
• Banquet: 1-2 years server (Preferred)
• Banquet Captain: 1 year Required
