Job Brief
We are a small health insurance brokerage looking for an experienced bookkeeper and customer support representative to help our fast-growing, locally owned health insurance office. Health Benefits Associates has 4 staffed locations in Northern Nevada and 14 full-time employees. We’ve been in business for over 25 years however these last 5 years have seen by far the fastest growth.
We’re looking for a senior level bookkeeper who will report directly to the owners and senior management team. They will be responsible for generating a clear financial picture to help with long-term decision making. This position will be a key advisor to the senior management team and will help recommend ways to improve financial and business operations. We are looking for someone who can assist in the internal bookkeeping role.
Bookkeeping Responsibilities – 20hrs / week
- Oversee daily management of QuickBooks Online software including correct categorization of assets and liabilities
- Oversee payroll categorization and split transactions for more accurate cost assignments
- Identify long-term trends with P&L and Balance Sheet and seasonal changes
- Input commission deposits (sales receipts)
- Process payroll semi-monthly for less than 20 employees
- Collaborate with the operations team to identify effective vs non-effective marketing strategies
- Produce, deliver and explain QuickBooks reports to the management team
Customer Service Responsibilities – 20hrs / week
- Provide administrative support primarily for your direct supervisor and occasionally to other licensed agents. This includes building illustrations through an online quoting platform and communicating with insurance companies regarding administrative tasks.
- Answer and direct phone calls of clients and vendors.
- Greet and assist clients/visitors in the office.
- Organize and schedule appointments and meetings, as well as calling appointments to confirm.
- Carry out administrative duties for the office to include but not limited to filing, copying, binding, scanning, ordering supplies, sending thank you cards, etc.
- Input client data into an online Customer Relationship Management system while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist in processing paperwork for group/business accounts and sending confirmation to the broker on the account. This would include employee enrollments and terminations for group clients.

Benefits and Retirement Package
- Starting Pay: $25/ hour
- Health Benefits Associates offers medical, dental, and vision effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment. The company contributes 70% towards employee’s premium. If you elect an HSA compatible plan, Health Benefits Associates will match up to $1,000 of your contribution. (subject to change)
- You will be eligible for our 401K, Life and Disability after 6 months of employment. Health Benefits Associates will match up to the first 6% of your 401K contribution.

Weekly day range:
- Monday to Friday – 8:00am – 5:00pm (during the off season we may leave at 4:30pm)
Work Location:
- Fernley, NV 89408 - This is NOT a work from home or remote position.
- IMPORTANT – You MUST be willing to occasionally (no more than 2x per month) drive to our Reno office to meet with the management team in person.
