We are looking for a senior Benefits Specialist to share your passion and expertise in benefits and wellness, delivering day-to-day support for Blue Origin employees and our group benefits (e.g., group health, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending plan, HSA, etc.) programs. Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Benefits, you will play a significant role in the design, development, and execution of Blue Origin’s healthcare, wellness, and other benefit programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Advise and support benefits team members on the front line, to enhance the employee experience and meet business needs.
- Administer group benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability.
- Administer and maintain employee benefits records in Workday and process new hire and qualifying event transactions.
- Plan and manage Blue Origin’s annual open enrollment process, work closely with vendors to create educational materials, and provide educational sessions for employees.
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Partner with benefits consultants to manage all federal, state, and local compliance, filings, reports, and audits related to the administration of employee benefit programs.
- Drive consistent improvements by evaluating internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes.
- Oversee the processing of monthly billings for all group plans.
- Work with HR leadership to ensure that benefits programs support Blue’s business objectives and meet all legal requirements.
- Implement new benefits programs including system integrations, communication needs, and distribution of materials.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for benefits-related questions.
- Drive benefits education through ongoing communications to increase participation of Blue’s benefit programs.
- Support leave administration process with vendor partner.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; four (4) years of related work experience including prior experience as a benefits administrator; preferably in a Workday environment with direct experience handling company benefits; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Deep subject Matter expertise of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, USERRA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
- Knowledge with demonstrated expertise in statutory disability plans, short- and long-term disability, disability accommodation (ADA/ADAAA/FEHA, etc.) and/or Federal/State leaves of absence (ERISA, FMLA).
- Experience developing Workday benefits and absence functionality with technical team.
- Driven, innovative, and resourceful thinker capable of adapting and driving positive, progressive change proactively.
- Excellent project management, organization, communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship skills.
- Must have strong attention to detail, and the ability to accurately deliver in a fast-paced environment. Solid analytical capabilities, decision-making skills, and ability to exercise appropriate judgement.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal and State regulations and laws, benefits, and protected leave of absence regulations with the ability to incorporate into discussions, decisions, and solutions.
- High level of discretion with strong integrity and the ability to effectively manage and maintain the confidentiality of information.
- Exceptional skills in the Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through on own initiative with minimum direction.
- Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Team-oriented with the ability to mentor junior members of the team.
Desired:
- Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), and/or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation preferred.
