      Job Summary
      The Alaska Healthcare Workforce Pipeline Project (AHWPP) supports and strengthens the Anchorage School District’s delivery of the Health Science Pathways through a liaison role between ASD Health Science programs and the healthcare industry and post-secondary pathways. This grant role will be critical in strengthening the post-secondary outcomes and opportunities available to students interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. The grant coordinator works at various locations throughout the district and reports to the assistant director of Career and Technical Education. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

      Job Requirements
      The following are required:
      • An associate’s degree or equivalent training/education.
      • Experience working with youth.

      The following are preferred:
      • A minimum of five years in the healthcare industry
      • An industry recognized credential in healthcare such as CNA, EMT, phlebotomy, pharm tech, etc.
      • Demonstrated professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
      • Knowledge of healthcare resources and services in Anchorage and Alaska.
      • Experience with data and record keeping for federal, state, or other grants.

      Essential Job Functions
      • Acts as liaison between the ASD Health Science Pathway Programs and the Alaska Primary Care Association in support of the AHWPP grant outcomes.
      • Implements the PATH Academy curriculum across health science pathways, serving as the lead instructor during academy weeks.
      • Collaborates with ASD health science teachers, community partners, and the CTE Team to report on program outcomes and opportunities, including tracking certifications and work-based learning data.
      • Consults and collaborates with industry partners, community organizations, and post-secondary programs to develop education and career opportunities/off-ramps for pathway students with a specific focus on apprenticeships and dual enrollment opportunities.
      • Maintains constant effective written and oral communication with school staff and administration to inform and address the needs of students to improve services and outcomes.
      • Promotes, publicizes, and connects students and families to expanded educational and career opportunities such as career fairs, internships, college/career readiness, community events, and other enrichment opportunities.
      • Assists with the implementation of career and post-secondary education planning in the health science classrooms.
      • Attends school events such as parent/teacher conferences and open house nights to promote health science careers and pathways.
      • Assists the Health Science Cluster chair with partnership outreach and advisory board development.
      • Attends assigned training and professional development as determined by the APCA and/or the Anchorage School District.
      • Provides professional development and/or training to ASD teachers, staff, counselors, and administrators related to health science pathways.
      • Work with the grants facilitator to complete grant reports in a timely manner.

      Physical /Mental Demands
      The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
