Coordinator of Adult Healthcare Programs

  • Position Description: Position is responsible for coordinating Barton's Adult Health Care (AHC) program. The Coordinator is expected to develop partnerships with, but not limited to, area long-term care facilities, assisted living centers, hospitals, and school districts. In addition, the Coordinator will manage instructor recruitment and supervision, curriculum development, regulatory agency compliance, marketing, program logistics and budgeting applicable to the AHC programs. Position Responsibilities: 45.00% - Assist students to develop personal and academic skills needed to successfully complete the Adult Healthcare program to meet student's needs. Maintain active partnership with the Kansas Department of Aging & Disability Services (KDADS) and clinical facilities. Reports to the Executive Director of Healthcare and Public Service Education. 25.00% - Coordinate Barton's Adult Health Care Program. Submit renewal applications for course sponsorships as needed as required by KDADS. Serve as the leader of the Adult Health Care Advisory Board and Adult Health Care faculty meetings. Coordinate CNA, CMA & CMA Update courses as well as others offered through Barton's Adult Healthcare Programs. 25.00% - Perform advisement to Adult Healthcare students. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Cooperatively work with internal departments and partners to promote linkages that encourage, ensure, and maximize instructional and support services for students and faculty. Exhibit a professional work environment and appearance. Maintain an understanding of the College's instructional policies and procedures and utilize them in conjunction with managing areas of responsibility. Maintain confidentiality. Attend meetings and participate in committees as appropriate. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
    Education - (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
    Other Skills -
    BSN recommended but not required.

    ADN with a current Kansas Registered Nurse License or current RN unencumbered license and in good standing required. Minimum of two years full-time licensed nursing experience with at least 1,750 hours of that experience as a licensed nurse in a setting which demonstrates long-term nursing care (such as adult care home, long term care unit of a hospital, or state institution for those with mental and physical disabilities).

    Must have the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines and must be detail oriented. Computer proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management, and the Internet. Excellent presentation, customer service, and marketing skills. Strong interpersonal abilities including listening, oral and written communications, negotiations, and team-building skills. Interpersonal Skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
    Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom. Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: body fluids. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
