Benefits Director oversees the development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures programs are chosen to be equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and to be cost effective. Being a Benefits Director establishes practices for evaluating existing benefits programs against peer organizations to determine competitiveness, trends and developments. Makes high-level decisions to modify existing benefits programs or institute new ones. Additionally, Benefits Director requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS). Typically reports to top management. The Benefits Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Benefits Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     We are searching for a Benefits Associate to join our agency. This position will be based out of our office located at 314 South Manning Blvd in Albany, NY.

    Responsibilities:     
    • Assist with the administration of all benefits programs, retirement plans and Leave of Absence (LOA) related inquiries
    • Uses positive and responsive customer service to answer/resolve employee and supervisor benefits/LOA questions 
    • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS and benefits systems.
    • Conducts benefits information sessions for employees at new hire, by appointment, as needed, and during annual enrollment
    • Applies a strong working knowledge of HRIS system (Infor) and Excel to efficiently and effectively process and track all components of plans as assigned – including 401k, medical, dental, etc.
    • Reconciles carrier bills and submits monthly vouchers to Accounts Payable within deadlines.  Meets all deadlines (payroll, legal, agency, vendor, etc.), escalating issues and following through to ensure deadlines are met.  
    • Maintains compliance with all laws and regulation regarding benefit administration
    Requirements:     
    • Bachelor’s degree in field of Business, Human Resources, or related field, at least one (1) year experience, specifically in benefits or leave of absence.
    • Must be proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems
    • Excellent professional communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality. Must have excellent organizational skills, the ability to pay close attention to detail, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.  Must be able to work without supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative.
    Rate of pay is commensurate on experience.
