Benefits Director oversees the development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures programs are chosen to be equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and to be cost effective. Being a Benefits Director establishes practices for evaluating existing benefits programs against peer organizations to determine competitiveness, trends and developments. Makes high-level decisions to modify existing benefits programs or institute new ones. Additionally, Benefits Director requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS). Typically reports to top management. The Benefits Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Benefits Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Brahmin Leather Works is seeking to hire a HR Generalist I – Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This is a hybrid role requiring an in-office presence at our corporate headquarters 2 – 3 days per week in Fairhaven, MA.

    Working in partnership with the Human Resources team, this position performs tasks and support throughout the employee life cycle including but not limited to all components of benefit & leave administration, onboarding & offboarding of employees, and general HR administration. This role will interface with leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.

    The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly. A self-motivated and highly organized individual who is naturally curious and enjoys working in a team environment.

    As a HR Generalist, you will use ADP Workforce Now in supporting HRIS, along with effective communication skills on a regular basis while conducting the following activities:

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Acting as the first point of contact on Brahmin’s benefits and leave of absence program, providing information and guidance to employees.
    • Administer all components of the leave of absence process especially regarding STD / FMLA / PFML absences, employee life status changes, workers comp and COBRA as applicable.
    • Enter employee status changes into healthcare vendor portals.
    • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments & benefit related data.
    • Assist with the open enrollment process.
    • Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees.
    • Assist with HR team projects and perform other duties as assigned.
    • Ability to thrive working as a team or independently in a collaborative environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree combined with relevant experience.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
    • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
    • Proficiency with ADP WFN preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Bilingual in English / Spanish a strong plus.
