Benefits Director oversees the development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures programs are chosen to be equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and to be cost effective. Being a Benefits Director establishes practices for evaluating existing benefits programs against peer organizations to determine competitiveness, trends and developments. Makes high-level decisions to modify existing benefits programs or institute new ones. Additionally, Benefits Director requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS). Typically reports to top management. The Benefits Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Benefits Coordinator

  • As a Benefits Coordinator for ProValue Insurance, you will be responsible for overseeing the enrollments, changes, terms, training, and administration of benefits offered by ProValue and its affiliated companies. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Group Benefits to provide similar services to benefit customers.

    Responsibilities within ProValue and affiliated companies will include:

    • Onboarding new employees regarding all benefits.
    • Work with the Payroll Department to make sure deductions and effective dates are correct in the payroll system.
    • Enroll employees in appropriate benefits systems and get all required paperwork to carriers.
    • Assist employees with claims or other benefits when needed.
    • Manage all open enrollment education and enrollments in appropriate platforms.
    • Take care of benefits terminations and changes.
    • Make sure all internal documents associated with benefits are completed such as wrap documents, retirement, beneficiaries, etc.
    • Meet with the Vice President of Group Benefits to develop processes for employee life cycles within the company (hiring, qualifying events, disability claims, terms, etc.).

    Responsibilities to our benefits customers will include:

    • Scheduling employee education as requested, needed, or recommended. This includes onboarding new customers to benefits.
    • Assisting in open enrollment when needed.
    • Provide support to group leaders regarding understanding of benefits, claims, or other applicable customer service support.
    • This position will work closely with the Benefits Resource Agent to ensure ProValue customer groups have the training, education and support needed for the employee benefits.
    • The Benefits Resource Agent will train group leaders in the use of the benefits platform but may need the Benefits Coordinator to be in contact when onsite with customers. The Benefits Coordinator will need to be familiar with the responsibilities of the Benefit Resource Agent role to create business continuity in the Benefits Department.
    • This position is responsible for being competent in the Plan Source platform and will be trained on all aspects of this platform.
    • This position will oversee all outside conferences that we sponsor and will organize staff, materials, marketing needs, etc. if we are having a booth. Vice President of Group Benefits will help to plan and discuss each year what conferences ProValue Group Benefits will be sponsoring.
    • The Benefit Coordinator will also be responsible for finding cost-effective ways to provide “added value” to customers to differentiate ProValue from our insurance competitors. Ideas and suggestions are encouraged and should be brough to the Vice-President of Group Benefits.

    All Benefits Department roles will be expected to work together as a team to ensure our customers have a smooth customer service experience.

    This position offers some workplace flexibility and allows you to work remotely from time-to-time, although a physical presence in the Hutchinson office is required most days when not traveling. You will be required to travel as needed to provide educational meetings and various help needed for our customers. This could include overnight travel at times, especially during open enrollment season. Additional travel may be required to attend outside meetings for continuing education or other required meetings.

    You will also collaborate with other professionals within ProValue Insurance and our affiliated companies when needed to prove to clients that we are a full-service insurance agency.

    What You Will Need to Do This Job:

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Life and health license or willingness to obtain and maintain.
    • High level of integrity, honesty, and dependability.
    • Organizational skills, resourcefulness, and good time-management are crucial.
    • Ability to work independently by managing your schedule and tasks effectively which will include reaching out to customers with our benefits to visit onsite.
    • Professional and have ability to create and maintain strong customer relationships.
    • A competitive spirit and drive to succeed.
    • Effective communication skills and able to collaborate with team members.
    • Willingness to learn products and be expert on policies we offer customers.
    • Public speaking skills and presence.
    • Ability to use and have good understanding of technology including computers, smart phone, tablet and various software programs and apps.
    • A valid driver’s license.
    • The ability to travel as needed for educational meetings, including overnight, is required. Regular day travel with the potential of overnight trips 1 -2 times per month during busy seasons, events, tradeshows, trainings, etc. The Benefits Coordinator will work with Vice President of Group Benefits to establish a good weekly working schedule of office days versus travel days for customer service.
    • This position works in an office environment but is occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions or other locations. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing and computer work are required. The ability to speak, hear, and type is also required. You will regularly lift twenty pounds or less.

    This position will also require you to perform other duties as assigned by management.
