Foster started Foster Fuels as a Gulf Oil Dealership with one 1500-gallon oil delivery truck. Sales volume for the first year was 200,000 gallons of home heating oil. Today the company has over 500 employees and does business throughout Maine. R.H. Foster Energy, LLC has seven energy service locations throughout Central Maine. We are seeking an Insurance and Benefits Manager to serve a critical role in ensuring employees have access to competitive insurance and benefits coverage; helping to attract and retain top talent while also managing costs and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position requires a combination of analytical, communication, and organizational skills, as well as expertise in insurance and benefits administration. This position will work collaboratively with employees and business leaders at all levels. This position will report to the Human Resources Manager.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the employee experience to include managing renewal, open-enrollment, and day-to-day employee benefits interactions to include onboarding/new hire orientations and educational sessions
Contribute to and work closely with leadership on the design and enhancement of benefits offerings.
Work with broker and vendors on issue resolution and long-term planning.
Administer programs such as 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, Voluntary Insurance, HRA and HSA worker’s compensation, OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, and other programs as necessary
Responsible for administration of Family and Medical Leave and other leaves (e.g. USERRA).
Responsible for administration of Disability Claims processing.
May serve as back up for Payroll.
Responsibility for Property and Casualty Insurance claims handling, renewal, and certificates of insurance.
Develop and distribute benefits analytics and usage reports to inform leadership of benefit usage, trends, and opportunities.
Recommend benefits enhancements by studying employee trends and developments in the market for employee benefits.
Help establish education materials and train employees to assist in their benefits and decision making.
Ensure accurate benefits reporting and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and requirements.
Contributes to the overall success of the Company through collaboration and teamwork.
Coordinate special events throughout the year (e.g. financial wellness, health and wellness competitions, etc.)
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of employee benefit experience.
Proven history of managing some or all components of benefits, with strong knowledge of various benefited plans.
Broker/Vendor management exposure and/or experience.
Ability analyze data to find opportunities to identify trends, areas needing focus and optimize.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills.
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), and Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or other related training and certifications is a plus.
