Bereavement Coordinator plans and provides bereavement counseling and support to survivors. Assesses individual needs and coordinates with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and deliver a holistic support plan. Being a Bereavement Coordinator guides survivors to appropriate bereavement resources. Facilitates grief support group sessions. Additionally, Bereavement Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree in social work. May require the applicable State License to Practice Clinical Social Work. Typically reports to a manager. The Bereavement Coordinator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Overview
We’re looking for a full time Bereavement Coordinator to join our hospice team.
position will be based in either our Warwick, RI branch OR our Fall River, MA branch, depending on where you live.
this individual will provide Bereavement Coordinator services for four (4) branches located in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
evidence of training in, and one year of clinical experience in chronic illness, grief and loss is required.
one year of experience in a healthcare setting is required: hospice, home health, community care, or hospital experience is preferred.
You will report directly to theExecutive Director or Administrator. You will be responsible for the identifying the bereavement needs and providing the highest quality service to meet those needs.
You will be providing bereavement needs to families, staff and volunteers.
You will be gathering information to develop the family bereavement service needs You will maximize family access to resources including community groups, and referrals.
You will provide education and training to team members, and community and contract agencies to assist in understanding the psychosocial dynamics associated with illness, loss, and death.
About You
High School graduate degree or equivalent required.
Undergraduate degree in human service field preferred.
Graduate degree preferred if providing counseling.
Evidence of training in the areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss.
Clinical experience in the areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, as well as, grief and loss; One year required; three years preferred related clinical experience in varied multi-disciplinary settings.
Counseling experience: individual, family and group therapy experience preferred.
One year experience in a healthcare setting required; preferably hospice, home health, community care or hospital
Knowledge of terminally ill patients and their families along with understanding of hospice and the psychosocial dynamics of illness, loss, and death
