Description
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine animals. As part of our commitment to providing an exceptional experience for our guests, we operate a vibrant cafe offering a variety of food and beverage options.
We are seeking a Food & Beverage Supervisor with strong experience in catering and café operations. This position will focus on the Front of House catering events within the Aquarium, but will assist in the oversight of the daily concessions café as needed. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a focus on team development and upscale food service operations.
Responsibilities:
- Working very closely with account executives, sales team, and culinary to fully understand event details including custom menus, event set up, décor needs, planning, organization and execution of events.
- Frequent meetings and open lines of communication with sales team, operations team, warehouse team and culinary team in preparation for each event.
- Meeting clients and visiting venues to ensure all requests are understood and met.
- Assist General Manager in scheduling to the needs of the business several months in advance and also for last minute “pop-up” events. Additionally, building relationships with staffing agencies and assisting the operations director in the hiring process.
- Creating, editing and updating packing/pull lists for operations team and front of house team for preparation and event day.
- Communicating with serving, bartending and culinary staff to ensure all scheduled staff are properly trained and prepared for event(s).
- Managing the team scheduled to run each event. Leading captains and servers of event(s) and providing ongoing development/training to supervise a team.
- Attending and executing event(s) ensuring it runs smoothly from the set-up to break-down.
- Assisting in post-event tasks including, payroll data entry, inventory, uniform management, month end reconciliation, etc.
- Assist in the day-to-day café concessions operations as needed.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in Hospitality Operations, Event Coordination, Operations Supervisor, or equivalent Experience in food service management - setting up events, executing multiple buffets, food safety, leading service teams is required!
- Must live near or be comfortable commuting to Clearwater, FL.
- Must be a team player, well organized, strong computer/Microsoft Office skills

- Ability to run a business as if you own it
- Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.

Work Environment
The Food & Beverage Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day events of CMA. On average 30% of the typical job duties will include office work while 70% of the duties will be performed as the “boots on the ground” supervisor.

- Prolonged periods of standing, moving through an event space.
- Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
- Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
Position Salary & Benefits:
- This is considered a full-time hourly position with a starting range of $20-$25/hour.
