  • Fortis Industries LLC, is interviewing for the position of part-time Tire Repairer on our contract at the Anniston Army Depot.   In this position duties will include but may not be limited to the following;
    • Repairing damaged tires on automobiles, busses, trucks and other automotive vehicles
    • Raising vehicles using hydraulic jack
    • Unbolting wheel using lug wrench and removing wheel from vehicle by hand or, when repairing giant tires of heavy equipment, by use of a power hoist
    • Locating puncture in tubeless tire by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tire in water bath and observing air bubbles
    • Sealing puncture by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plug into puncture using hand tools
    • Separating tubed tire from wheel using rubber mallet and metal bar or mechanical tire changer
    • Removing inner tube from tire and inspecting tire casing for defects such as holes and tears
    • Gluing tire patch over rupture in tire casing using rubber cement
    • Inflating inner tube and immersing it in water to locate leak
    • Buffing defective area of inner tube using scraper
    • Patching tubes with adhesive rubber patch or sealing rubber patch to tube using hot vulcanizing plate
    • Reassembling tire on wheel and placing wheel on balancing machine to determine counterweights required to balance wheel and adding the proper amount of counterweights to rim of wheel
    Requirements:
    2 years of tire repair experience required including work on heavy equipment tires.
    Must have valid driver’s license.
     
    Rate of Pay:   $16.89 per hour plus health and welfare
