Position Summary:
We are seeking an energetic, hardworking, detail-oriented Billing Specialist Manager to provide a professional and courteous environment for our billing office. The Medical Billing/Office Administrator provides the highest level of customer service to patients, fellow employees, and referral sources. Ensure that billing for all services provided is accurate, timely, and fully documented. Collaborate with the billing team to develop and implement billing policies and protocols. Provide excellent reimbursement practices while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and established company policies and compliance programs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Medical Billing And Coding: 5 years (Preferred)
- 2-5 years of experience in an administrative role. Healthcare or office management role a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

- Comfortable with using multiple technologies for presentations, online meetings and saving information to shared drives.
- Must be able to effectively manage and oversee bookkeeping functions including: posting payments and charges to patient accounts, balance daily receipts, collect delinquent accounts, and evaluate need for and refer delinquent accounts to collection agency
- Must be able to recruit, select, hire, train, evaluate, counsel, and supervisor billing office staff
- Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients and staff
- Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Review accounts for accuracy. Obtain & verify appropriate insured, policy, claim and billing addresses of each payer and patient eligibility prior to billing.
- Handle all aspects of billing including charge entry, payments and A/R management.
- Effectively communicate with referring physicians, attorneys, insurance carriers and patients.
- Assertively negotiate settlements and new contracts. Assist with credentialing
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding prior authorizations, denials, revisions and other issues as they arise.
- Follow-up on denials, incorrect or underpayments and past due receivables in a timely manner.
- Learn the use of our billing system. Run weekly and monthly reports to monitor billing trends and employee work.
- Strives for a low paper work environment and full-utilization of technology‐based processes to drive operational efficiencies.
- Performing other related duties and special projects as needed.
SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess strong knowledge of Medicare & Medicaid billing.
- Clear understanding of EOB’s, CPT’s and ICD codes.
- Knowledge of Commercial/HMO insurances
- Knowledge of Medicare LCDs
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively lead a team.
- Must be self motivated and work with minimum supervision.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and the ability to learn new computer systems.
- Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies.
