Position: Billing and Collection SpecialistDepartment: BillingPosition Status: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY
The Billing & Collection Specialist is responsible for performing billing and all related functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEssential functions are duties, which are essential or primary to the position or the reason the position exists. An individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.- Enters client insurance enrollment information into billing system, monitors data and provides related reports to supervisor.
- Investigate and reprocess denied claims
- Post payments from insurance companies. Maintain accurate client accounts.
- Keep up with aging client accounts to avoid timely filing when applicable.
- Communicate and cooperate with Medicaid and Managed Care Entities in obtaining information and completing billing services.
- Assists staff in completion of various reports by providing statistics and data
- Positively represents the department/agency through appropriate interaction, personal appearance and attitude.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Secondary functions are duties, which are not exclusive of the position, can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center, Inc.- Assists administrative staff in Performance Improvement activities for agency as needed
- Assists with office tasks as needed
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator/Director
COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of Behavioral Health Redesign and Medical Billing
- Knowledge of Medicaid/MCEs and know the difference between Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance.
- Ability in the area of effective communication and interpersonal skills with public and co-workers
- Demonstrates appropriate understanding of working with confidential material and situations
- Ability to understand and assimilate new information quickly
- Ability to accurately complete reports, gather statistics, transfer data
- Knowledge of other various funding sources and what is required for billing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three to Five years experience of billing procedures related to client accounts and Management Information Systems experience preferred
- Knowledge about the disease of alcohol addiction preferred
