Buffalo Hearing & Speech is currently seeking a full-time Billing Assistant in our Finance department.  This is a hybrid remote position where time can be spent both in the office and at home working 8am - 4pm once training has been completed. 

Job Summary: 

The Billing Assistant is responsible for a variety of billing as assigned individually by the accounts receivable manager. This includes Early Childhood billing, Medicare/Medicare HMO’s, Blue Cross, IHA, Univera, Medicaid/Medicaid HMO’s, Contract & Private Patient billing.

Essential Functions:

• Data entry of all necessary billing information
• Prints and distributes daily encounter forms. Must review encounter forms for accuracy and track missing encounter forms
• Completes necessary entry, processing and follow up for the following types of billing
• Resolves all billing issues for all billing. Reviews claims for missing and incorrect information
• Updates necessary departments with applicable insurance information
• Posting and reconciliation of daily cash receipts for all locations
• Remain current with applicable billing policies and meets with necessary departments to stay abreast of any changes
• Run necessary reports of billing data as needed for the required department
• Additional duties as requested by your supervisor

Required Skills:

• Prior Practice Management system and electronic claim filing experience including maintenance of data tables Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing guidelines
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word

Minimum Degree Required: High school diploma/ GED

Minimum Experience Required:

• Minimum of three years’ experience in billing required.
• Two years of experience acceptable with a completed two-year degree in finance, billing or relevant field

Physical Requirements:

• Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
