SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Billing Clerk is responsible for managing the billing for grant programs, including submitting invoices, processing received invoices, and reconciling to the appropriate budget.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Receives general supervision from the Grants Manager II. Supervisor sets the overall objectives and employee and supervisor, in consultation, develop the deadlines, projects, and work to be done; employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment; and work is reviewed only from an overall standpoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Create and issue Medicaid billing invoices utilizing Excel spreadsheets, ensuring that the information is accurate and that invoices are processed on time.
2. Receive and process billing from external contractors for services to programs including, but not limited to, in-home care, caregivers program, and adult daycare.
3. Follow up on late payments for invoices sent and/or late invoices for services received from external contractors.
4. Create billing account information for new programs and/or new external contractors. Update contact information for Medicaid billing and external contractors as needed.
5. Reconcile billing to appropriate budget.
6. Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
2. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
3. Knowledge and ability to operate office equipment including telephone, copy machine, fax machine, computer, and calculator.
4. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
5. Knowledge and ability to do basic arithmetic. Experience with budgeting preferred.
6. Associate's Degree in Accounting or a related field, or at least two (2) years of related work experience.
7. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
WORK CONDITIONS:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
