Billing Systems Manager manages the daily operations of the billing system. Ensures the operations and associated procedures of billing systems are efficient and effective for billing delivery. Being a Billing Systems Manager develops and implements new billing solutions to improve departmental efficiency and accuracy. Helps develop strategies for system integration of future technology. Additionally, Billing Systems Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Billing Systems Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. 1. Receive, sort, and track incoming payments
2. Ensure payments for accuracy and compliance with contract rate
3. Follow-up unpaid patient and insurance bills
4. Fix and rebill rejected/denied claims as needed
5. Provide regular and accurate reports of billing data.
6. Resolve patient questions and issues related to bills
7. Help scrub and submit claims as needed
8. Help post office and inpatient charges as needed
9. Help compile and post insurance electronic and paper explanation of benefits as needed
10. Take credit card payments over the phone
11. Help verify insurance information as need
12. Send patients to collections as appropriate
13. Help receptionists with phones and front desk when necessary
Qualifications/competencies:
1. Demonstrate skill in using computer programs and applications including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic health record
2. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with coworkers
3. Interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds for the purpose of making families and patients comfortable in our office
4. Experience working with claims follow-up and familiarity with local insurance companies
