Essential Functions
- Oversee and streamline billing and collections processes
- Plan and implement quality assurance for all processes
- Ensure the timely issuance of invoices
- Monitor and report on key billing metrics
- Handle and resolve complex billing issues
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure billing accuracy
- Maintain a clean ledger by performing account reconciliations
- Manage and mentor the billing department staff
- Stay updated on industry trends and adjustments in billing regulations
- Develop and maintain a documented system of billing policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and regulatory standards
- Review and approve adjustments to accounts and invoices
- Provide customer service to clients regarding billing issues and disputes
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and system reliability
- Prepare and present reports on billing activities to upper management
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in billing or a related area, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Proficiency in billing software and strong knowledge of electronic billing systems. Experience with accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. Solid understanding of billing processes and regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to analyze information and develop effective solutions to billing issues. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with clients, staff, and upper management. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding, including ICD-10 and CPT codes. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience in creating and implementing billing policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proven track record in reducing billing errors and improving overall efficiency. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and personal information
Preferred
Certification as a Certified Professional Biller (CPB). Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
