Bindery Technician performs various machine and manual operations to complete print binding and finishing processes. Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. JOB SUMMARY:
Setup and operation of all heavy bindery equipment, such as the Mueller saddle stitcher, folders, large folders, perfect binder, cutters, scoring and perf equipment. Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment as identified above. Coordinate with the Assistant Director to request service and repair technicians and order parts and/or consumables as required. Assist with light bindery functions as needed - punch, collation, saddle stitching, drill, cutting, laminating, and any associated handwork required for a project. Participate with the Assistant Director and other internal stakeholders to discuss project specifications and processing efficiencies as needed. This position performs setup and operation of all heavy bindery equipment for offset and digital printing. Assist with pulling paper and other items from inventory as required - complete all necessary computer entries connected to material pulls into inventory software. Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the course of the work day. Assist with shipping, receiving and job deliveries on campus as needed. Performs other duties in the production area as needed.
